https://understandingwar.org/backgro...sment-april-21
D'ailleurs, l'ISW vient aussi de publier un très long guide sur les officiers russes, allant fortement dans les détails pour expliquer la structure de leur commandement.ISW has consistently assessed that Russian BTGs have taken high casualties in the battle of Mariupol, are degraded, and are unlikely to possess their full complement of personnel (800-900 at full strength). As with Russian operations elsewhere in Ukraine, reporting on numbers of BTGs without additional context and analysis of the combat power of these units is not a useful evaluation of Russian forces. While it is unlikely that all 12 reported BTGs were involved in the final fighting around the Azovstal plant, it will still take some time for those units that were engaged in final assaults to disengage for redeployment elsewhere. Some portion of these Russian forces will be necessary for several other missions—including maintaining the siege of the Azovstal plant, securing the rest of Mariupol against any remaining pockets of Ukrainian forces and likely partisan actions, and possibly redeploying to support Russian forces maintaining control of southern Ukraine. Russian forces will certainly be able to redeploy some units from Mariupol to offensive operations elsewhere—but Ukrainian forces have succeeded in tying down and degrading a substantial Russian force, and the Kremlin's declaration of victory has not inherently freed up 12 BTGs worth of combat power for other operations.

Statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Finland's membership in NATO
999-12-05-2022
The statement by President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister of Finland Sauli Marin, who spoke today in favour of Finland's accession to NATO, is a radical change in the country's foreign policy.
For decades, the policy of military non-alignment has served as the basis for stability in the Northern European region, ensured a reliable level of security for the Finnish state, and was a solid basis for building mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership relations between our countries, in which the role of the military factor was reduced to zero.
Neither Russia's assurances of the absence of any hostile intentions towards Finland, nor the long history of good-neighborly and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries have convinced Helsinki of the advantages of maintaining the course of military non-alignment.
The goal of NATO, whose member countries assertively convinced the Finnish side of the fact that there is no alternative to membership in the alliance, is clear - to continue expanding to the borders of Russia, to create another flank for a military threat to our country. But why should Finland turn its territory into a line of military confrontation with the Russian Federation, while losing its independence in making its own decisions, history will judge.
The Russian side has repeatedly noted that the choice of ways to ensure its national security rests with the authorities and people of Finland. However, Helsinki should be aware of the responsibilities and consequences of such a step. Finland's accession to NATO will cause serious damage to bilateral Russian-Finnish relations, maintaining stability and security in the northern European region. Russia will be forced to take reciprocal steps, both military-technical and otherwise, in order to stop the threats to its national security that arise in this regard.
Joining NATO would also be a direct violation of Finland's international legal obligations, primarily the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty, which provides for the obligation of the parties not to form alliances or participate in coalitions directed against one of them, as well as the 1992 Treaty between Russia and Finland on the Foundations of Relations, which establishes that the parties will refrain from the threat or use of force against territorial integrity or political independence. the other party shall not use or permit the use of its territory for armed aggression against the other party. However, given the collective West's current indifference to international law, such behavior has become the norm.
We will respond to the situation.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/li...083b856379925bA Russian ship carrying grain stolen in Ukraine has been seen in the Syrian port of Latakia after being turned away from at least one Mediterranean port, according to reports.
CNN reports that the vessel, Matros Pozynich, weighed anchor off the coast of Crimea on 27 April and turned off its transponder. Photographs and satellite images show the bulk carrier at the port of Sevastopol, the main port in Crimea, the following day.
The Matros Pozynich is one of three ships involved in the trade of stolen grain, according to open-source research and Ukrainian officials.
Germany may be able to cope with a boycott of Russian gas imports as soon as the coming winter, its economy minister, Robert Habeck, said.
Speaking in an interview with WirtschaftsWoche translated by Reuters, Habeck said:
If we have full storage facilities at the turn of the year, if two of the four floating LNG tankers we have leased are connected to the grid and if we make significant energy savings, we can to some extent get through the winter if Russian gas supplies collapse.
Everyone could play a part, he said, adding that if industry and private individuals could reduce gas consumption by 10%, it would help avoid an emergency. Gas prices would increase further, he warned.
Germany has stepped up efforts to reduce its reliance on Russian energy supplies but has said it expects to be largely dependent on its gas until 2024.
