A haut tier ça me dérange moins.

(SS: the amount of bullshit I filtered today is high, therefore the questions will be shorter)

- Q: "Do you fear the War Thunder competition?" A: "Most of all, we fear Farmville" (SS: SerB didn't say exactly Farmville, but its Russian equivalent, I changed it to make the joke more comprehensible)
- BT-5 might become a Chinese premium LT, but not in next few patches
- IS-3 confirmed NOT to become a premium tank
- SU-85(i) and Panzer IV Hydro are not going to be sold in the shops, they are promo/gift vehicles, not clear when they will be given
- It's planned to introduce the possibility to view replays straight from (within) the client (SS: so there will be no need to quit the game and doubleclick the replay itself)
- You recieve less XP by firing on targets that are lower tier than you
- the devs have no relationship with the WoT wiki
- Q: "Will there be British tier 8 heavy?" A: "When it's planned, I'll tell you. It's not possible to answer all of the questions related to various nation - tier tank combinations."
- Recon and Situational Awareness skills work the same way.
- there is no plan to add the Syria flag
- SerB actually misses the times when there were fewer players asking more intelligent questions
- SerB states that all the archives WG collaborated with caused some problems and almost all the problems were settled
- Q: "When dealing with Support, they sent me a program called "wot_check" for testing the client. Do you plan to put this program into the client to fight illegal mods?" A: "We won't comment on this."
- Q: "Did you consider adding ingame voice communication for random battles without the platoons?" A: "We did. It was terrible. Scrapped the idea."
- M47 Patton? "maybe, if we ever need a tier 8-10 vehicle" (SS: this was related to the whole Patton tank family question, whether we will see all the Pattons - M46, M47, M48)
- it's probably not possible to make the ingame platoon voice chat permanently on without the need to press the butten, "there are problems with that"
- different types of shells have different colored tracers, HE shells have orange tracers, so that the arty can recognize other arties. subcaliber (APCR, APDS) shells have light, short and transparent tracers (because it's basically just a small piece of tungsten flying), AP shells tracers look like subcaliber shells tracers but a lot more clear (they are longer, more visible and less transparent). HEAT tracers are yellow and very thin. Tracer colors are the same on all the servers.
- the devs are thinking about adding the Fog of War in random battles
- there will be no multiclassing (SS: a Hetzer with a 150mm short howitzer mentioned, that could work both as TD and as an arty at the same time), in the early development the devs thought about changing the class of the vehicle by adding different modules (for example SU-122 and SU-152 could work as an arty as well as a TD), but this idea was scrapped soon

- SerB considers the winrate of a player to be the indicator of that player's skill
- SerB confirmed the fact that when the arty branches are prolonged to tier 10, various arty branches will have new machines inserted on various tiers (SS: eg logically, it's not sure T7 will go to T9 and T8 to T10 automatically)
- 15vs15 companies won't be cancelled according to SerB, they make a great training ground for the CWs
- looks like the Fog of War won't be in randoms after all
- the devs don't introduce a bigger number of low-tier premiums into the game (despite having them prepared in advance) because sometimes, the vehicle designed to be premiums are used to "patch up" the holes in regular trees and to supplement upcoming branches
- it's not totally excluded for 3 branches of the same class to exist in one tree
- the spare tracks mounted on hulls/turrets of the ingame vehicles do not count as armor
- the 59-16 Chinese LT has an autoloader on its top gun. At the same time it can mount a rammer. The rammer reduceds the autoloader loading time, not time between shots - and it's not a bug
- tier 10 TD's have lower MM weight than tier 10 heavies
- Q: "Do you plan to improve the premium account by allowing to buy shorter period premium account?" A: "Yes, we are currently thinking about allowing the player to buy one second and one milisecond premium" :)

- tier 10 light tanks? "I am really not sure" (SS: apparently there was another leak from somewhere saying those might come eventually)
- WG doesn't plan to make a singleplayer game (SS: connected to the question what is WG going to do with the new console game US studio it bought)
- apparently, the Leopard's gun L7A3 might be even more accurate and have faster aiming than the one of the E-50M (SS: 0.28 mentioned)
- there is no en-masse amnesty planned for banned accounts, each case is handled individually
- no special matchmaking for platoons is planned (SS: for example for the cases where one team recieves one platoon of 3xHT8, another 2xMT6) to make them more balanced
- HE shells have no limit on module criticals damaged per shot, this only concerns crewmembers (SS: HE shell can never kill more than half of the crew with one shot, the borderline case being 3 of 5)
- SS: this is a bit indirect answer but from what I understood, there are no light tanks candidates for now for tier 10
- WG doesn't support the P2W attitude despite the fact that the Chinese (SEA) server sort of inclines to it
- T-34/100 has not yet been introduced as a premium vehicle, because there is the possibility of it being introduced as a regular vehicle
- SerB writes that the "late model" E-75 (designated "F") having a rear transmission is a hoax and that there are no existing graphic materials suggesting there was any such things, Doyle also agrees there was no such thing
- holes in tanks after they are hit have no effect on the armor (SS: eg if you hit a place where another shell has previously penetrated, it doesn't count as 0 armor area)
- both US and RU servers have roughly the same amount of people mass-using gold shells
- disabling one map from the random map pool? "Let's say we won't do it for now"
- the system where you can "forgive" teamdamage (SS: the teamdamager doesn't get "ban points" if you forgive him) is not going to be implemented
- tanks in game do not act as a arty splash barrier (SS: if a MS-1 stands hidden behind the Maus, an arty shell falls next to the Maus so that the Maus stands between it and the MS-1, if the splash is big enough to reach the MS-1, it will get damaged despite the fact it is covered)
- it's possible the British crews will get additional names in their name and surname pool in the future ("when it's done it's done")
- T-62A was introduced as the Object 165 without the smoothbore gun instead of the paper project Object 142 because 1) some T-62A's were actually built (around 100 pieces) and 2) Object 142 is practically the same as one of the T-54 versions that already is in the branch, it's possible (but not guaranteed) that the Object 142 will appear as a separate vehicle
- SerB doesn't see any suitable tanks for German premium T8 med tank
- smoke shells and generators are difficult to implement technically, they will come in distant future
- no plans to introduce earning gold in random battles
- Province will be remade "if needed"
- AMX AC 48 mantlet thickness is 150mm
- SerB is exping up the British medium branch, he's at the Cromwell now
- according to SerB, WoT works on Windows 8 just fine

2.2.2013

- apparently there won't be special "emblems" for Ukraine (the trident), double-headed eagle (symbol of Russia) etc. - "there are flags for that"
- there most likely be no "free tanks" during the arty tier 10 branch prologning ("there's enough arty around even without that")
- it's possible to get 2 Lion of Sinai medals in space of 10 battles - one counts as "general" for the account, one counts as "special" for that given tank
- crew skills have no effect on server spot check frequency (SS: the server checks whether the tank can spot the enemy vehicles in certain frequencies (from cca 0,5s to cca 3s) - these are not affected)
- SerB's full title is "Vice president of Wargaming for game design"
- a "wounded" crew member will always operate on 50 percent skill efficiency (absolutely, not 50 percent of his trained skill). However, if you put a crew into the tank that doesn't belong (for example a LT crew into a heavy) and the efficiency drops below 50 percent, the negative modifier will apply also on the "wounded crewmember" skill (eg it's not possible to actually BUFF skill by killing your crewmember)
- each crewmember has his own collision model (for example two loaders - one is on the right of the gun, one on the left)
- the "master" XP requirement does not depend on the day or hour of the week, the statistics for it are averaged on the week before that.
- SU-122-44 won't be transferred to tier 8 (SS: there was a rumor going around)
- if new arty vehicle is introduced into the branch a player has already unlocked, it will likely count as unlocked too (SS: in other words - if the player unlocked all 8 arties and new arty is introduced at tier 5, it'll be unlocked for the player if I understand that correctly)
- WZ-111 premium tank that sometimes appears on the RU server wasn't introduced there officially, it's a press account
- The Chinese tree is called Chinese tree and not PRC tree because some of the vehicles were used even in the pre-PRC warlord era
- after the introduction of tier 10 arties, the arties will still have specific MM, but SerB mentions he's thinking about allowing a bigger difference between arties teams (for example 3 arties in one team, 4 in other).
- 0.8.4 and 0.8.5 - changes in profitability of various tanks? "if necessery, as always"
- German heavy branch with Grosstraktor, NbFz nad DW? "no comment for now"
- SU-122-44 was made a premium tank because it was needed to push the SU-101 and Uralmash one tier up
- the controversial "Stalinec" tank decal won't be removed from the game
- Storm considers reworking the ingame hangar chat, no details yet
- premium British and Chinese heavies? "Definitely this year"
- El-Halluf doesn't have a higher chance to drop than other maps (SS: by "drop" I mean "to be chosen when selecting a map for next random battle" - sorry, WoW slang)
- the "in development" section will be updated before the 8.4 test begins (SS: the question was "can we expect the 8.4 test within 2 weeks, as 8.4 is scheduled for Feb/March? Might be a hint that the 8.4 is delayed"
- the ceiling height of each maps is very high, SerB doesn't tell how exactly, but "it's sufficient for any ballistic purposes"
- confirmed: no extra regular gold/XP per medals planned
- there are 3 "sizes" of ingame tracers, depending on the caliber
- regarding the placing of the M62-T2 gun on the vehicles, "historically, the gun was designed to replace the D-25T, wherever it was installed (IS-4, SU-122-54, T-10...) but by the time it was ready, the heavy tanks were declared obsolete
- the Indien-Panzer was confirmed to be a logical part of the new medium tank German branch
- a year is taken into consideration too, when introducing new tanks (SS: it is thus possible to find a vehicle that would fit into the game technologically, but it's "too new") (SS: so the Japanese Type 74 and the Merkava prototypes from the 70's won't fit apparently)
- with the introduction of tier 10 arties, the company allowed arty tiers will most likely change (eg. higher tier arties will be allowed for different modes), but the total company weight most likely won't. Basically there is some time limit ("and we determine what that limit is")
- SerB doesn't see any FPS issues with the sniper scope anymore
- Chinese Vickers has the engine in the back, but the transmission in the front
- Generally (SS: if I understood this correctly, not 100 percent sure), the AP shell normalisation does not depend on the caliber of the gun if the caliber is 2x as big as the thickness of the armor hit - and if the caliber is 3x as big as the thickness of the armor hit, the angle of impact counts as 90 degrees.
- SerB stated that Evilly (SS: that guy I translated the answers from) might have screwed up some of the answers, namely the one about Wargaming buying the mods.
- regarding the T-62B introduction: Q: "And what about the T-62B? It's if the same age as the Leopard" A: "Well, the Leopard will be introduced..."

3.2.2013
- the tracks form an external module and they have their own armor value, so does the gun external module
- the tracks form sometimes one big compact module with no "holes", but sometimes, if the gaps between wheels are large enough, these gaps act as holes, eg. not a part of the module
- if an AP shell hits the tracks and punches thru them into the side armor, the armor of the tracks is deduced from the AP value of the projectile
- shells cannot richochet from hitting the tracks (SS: acts as sort of "speced armor", even though it doesn't count as one)
- if a shell penetrates the tracks, damages them, penetrates the side hull behind them and damages the tank, the tank damage is not diminished by the fact the shell already damaged the tracks (SS: each shell can cause two types of damage - the usual one that is listed in the gun properties and the undocumented one especially for modules, it is usually equal to the caliber of the gun - so, in other words, when a shell hits the tracks as mentioned before, the damage to the tracks counts as (unlisted) module damage and if the shell manages to penetrate the hull behind the tracks, it deals full (listed) damage). The only difference between external and internal modules (apart from the special armor value) is that the external modules don't get the "saving throw".

The exact formula for tracks armor penetration is (as an example)

(150mm (average pen) +-25% (187,5mm to 112,5mm)) - 70mm (tracks armor) = 117,5mm to 52,5mm penetration

- KV-1S won't lose the D-25 gun (SS: the question was actually whether the devs will remove the 122mm gun, move KV-1S to tier 5 and make a new KV-122 at tier 6)
- the Mk.III and Mk.V 6-pounder guns on US, French and British tanks are considered historical
- changes to the 6-pounder guns on Soviet Churchill, UK, US (M7 and T21) and the UE57 TD are not planned (SS: related to the previous question, eg. to make them all fit)
- the option of players researching the same module for various nations (SS: f.x. the same radio for the US and Chinese M5 Stuart) was tested but rejected
- apparently, the devs consider the ingame Matilda Black Prince historical (SS: it's not clear what the question meant as the original question was already deleted, presumably it concerned some armor sleeve around the turret, several Russian players mentioned that before)
- Q: "Sturmpanther planned?" A: "That's not a Sturmpanther. We don't comment on our plans." (SS: this relates to a rumor running around about a vehicle on the basis of Jagdpanther, but with 150mm StuH 43 howitzer)
- Shell air resistance won't be implemented for World of Tanks, because it would be too big a gameplay change (SS: SerB mentions such a thing might be in World of Warships, which will be more complex)
- apparently, the TOG II* name asterisk might mean "an improved version", because there were other examples thereof (a player mentions Medium Mk.II and Medium Mk.II***). According to the player, the original TOG II had a mock turret with a 6pdr gun, the TOG II* had a production turret with a 76mm gun. SerB is however not sure, he accepts it only as a theory
- 25 percent random coefficient won't be changed
- apparently, the "Sturmtiger in 2013" is just a rumor, BUT there was no real denial (SS: the answer was: "Will you ask about all the rumors you hear, or only about a half of them?")
- apparently, the devs are working on the "assault TD" class of vehicles (indirectly hinted at, SerB states their firing trajectory will look like the one of the old KV-2)
- new RU record: 740k online
- the devs try to issue cca 2 premium vehicles per patch, there might be even more occasionally, but the devs want to focus on the regular branches more

4.2.2013

- Soviet "Gvozdika" and "Akacija" won't be implemented
- Q: "Are the models of Japanese tanks already in development?" A: "We already made one, in the Chinese branch" and "When it's done I'll let you know"
- the devs tried making a 20-30 members per team battles on the current maps - it was a mess and the client couldn't handle it technically (SS: as in "too many objects to draw")
- Q: "SerB, have you noticed you look a lot like Nikolaj Bucharin, the bolshevik leader from the 20's?" A: "Well, there was that one time on a business trip after 5 hours of nonstop swearing I did lie down on a couch in my jacket to have a nap and Viktor Kisliy started to bring in "mausoleum excursions"..." :)
- FV4202 shells don't ricochet more than usual
- aim spread is determined by the gun module and the turret module, not by different shells
- regarding the Japanese tanks and Evilly's answer about the 280mm guns (SS: the player who's asking look for that and all he found was the turret from the Yamato battleship). SerB answers regarding the tier 10 tank: "It's not a battleship Yamato turret, it's most likely a turret with the coastal defense 140mm gun. We'll see in a few months how it goes."
- platoon fight statistics are not taken into account when deciding vehicle balance
- SerB states that if he remembers correctly, if you have a full crew BIA as first perk and 6th Sense as second perk trained to 95 percent, it will work when the BIA is active.
- the devs won't disclose now how much XP will be needed to unlock new arty vehicles when the tier 10 arty is introduced ("wait for the test")
- CW tier 6 and 8 battles, like in the lower tier companies? "We discussed it, it was refused. But there might be special events where this is possible."
- devs don't think the gold ammo for credits created a disbalance in the game
- no matter how many trees you bring down at one location, camo-wise all the fallen trees will count as one bush, this is intentional so the players don't create "superbushes" with high camo values
- ammunition price is calculated while taking the gun caliber, gun damage, penetration, year of the gun introduction and balance into account (all at once)
- WoT for tablets would take up to 2 years to develop, it's not only about porting the game, but also about re-working the project.
- it's economically more advantageous to set a tank on fire or ammorack it - it counts as damage credit-wise, but the shells will cost less, it's also better XP-wise, as crits award bonus XP
- Japanese medium branch will consist of known real life tanks (Chi-Ha, Chi-Ri, STA, STB mentioned), while the heavy branch will be more like "unknown" heavy projects, Japanese special consumable is not decided yet, SerB thought about a cup of sake, but that's not possible due to the game age restriction
- Soviet low-level tanks, such as T-60, T-70, T-80, T-19, T-24 and T-46-5? "When it's done it's done"
- Zimmerit is not excluded for the future, but it won't be introduced now
- a "buy back your accidentally dismissed crew" option is not planned
- free camera in replays? "maybe"
- Panther II with Panther I turret won't be introduced as a German tier 8 medium, as this option is already in the game (stock PII)
- there won't be additional crew ranks above "Major", because historically such high ranks didn't drive tanks, even Major is high enough (SS: not to be taken literally, there probably were SOME high ranking officers driving tanks)
- 0.8.4 won't necesserily bring more than 2 re-worked maps (despite the fact 0.8.3 didn't have any re-worked maps at all). "Wait for the patchnotes"
- the fate of Panzer I and Panzer I Ausf. C? "I'll tell you when the time is right"
- after the nerf, it's confirmed less players play arty, no word on any further arty nerfs
- the game client is full of experimental stuff and other mess, that possibly won't be introduced at all, one of such things is the shell icon of a new type of shell, that wasn't introduced yet

6.2.2013
- SerB on premium tier 8 arties after tier 10 arties are introduced: "Logical, but not guaranteed."

Regarding Japanese tanks:

http://i.imgur.com/u82WTlp.jpg

This is a drawing of colonel Iwakura's proposal. It's not the early O-I tank, that's a different project. It was the only tank with such a suspension planned. Its main gun is estimated to be a 150mm cannon.

http://i.imgur.com/3yvWyrL.jpg

This is one of the Chi-Ri prototypes. The "Bugatti" tank (SS: sorry, I really don't know enough Japanese tank history to give you any solid background, apparently one project was called like that by the Japanese buffs, I'll ask about it) was also a Chi-Ri variant.

http://i.imgur.com/v1o20nI.jpg

According to SerB, this is a Chi-To hull with Chi-Ri turret. Unclear whether it had its own designation or whether it really existed. These alternative Chi-Ri variants are largely unknown and it is not known how much a difference there was between them and the "regular" Chi-Ri. There were some rumors about cast turrets.

It's also too soon to announce the designation of the Japanese "supertank" with 80 roadwheels, mentioned by SerB. SerB states it weights more than 120 tons (around 140). Regarding the Chi-Ri, SerB states that the 88mm gun planned for it was not only an estimate of US engineers, the Japanese themselves planned to install it.

- the reason why US T57 was introduced was to increase the amount of American top tier tanks
- each crewmember alive at the end of the battle recieves the same amount of XP as the tank, dead crewmembers recieve only half
- the devs had thought about the idea that a burning tank would be harder to hide behind a bush (lower camo factor) but refused it, it was considered not needed
- no candidate for tier 8 was found for the possible Soviet branch with Object 907 or for Soviet light tanks (SS: presumable high-tier LTs meant), it's not planned for now to use the LTs found in archives by Yuri Pasholok (SS: only sets of demands and some blueprints, will have a look at it, at first glance - very heavy and well armored vehicles for light tanks)
- minimap won't be remade from "satellite view" to "topographic view", because it would be difficult to read (SS: sorry, not sure what "topographic view" means in this context)
- transfer from elite vehicles XP to crew XP? "When we plan this, we'll tell"
- ingame vehicles will NOT be balanced around the 7/42 companies (SS: this is connected to the question, why no top 7/42 team uses TD's in their setups, SerB doesn't see that as a problem, the game is balanced around random battles and in random battles tier 8 TD's don't have problems)
- confirmed: drowning a tank gives you bigger repair bill than "regular" death
- regular mass-use of gold shells in random battles does NOT count as "unfair play" (SS: related to a massive whine of one player that WG forces people to buy premium accounts to stay competitive).
- a "bad nickname" report reason won't be added into the ingame report system, as it is not needed
- WG games for Xbox 720 and PS4? "No comment"
- the Chinese heavy tank traits according to SerB are good frontal armor and mobility
- no hardcap for LTs planned
- the option to exchange one premium tank for another (even for gold) won't be introduced
- the Leopard in the game will be one of the early models
- Q: "Why can't we name the crews ourselves?" A: "We don't need any screenshots with crews full of "heroes of the SS""
- gun aim spread is a purely balance characteristic
- SerB states that regarding the interview with Evilly (SS: translated here) that Evilly basically screwed some things up, because he's not involved in the game development directly
- if you are under the effect of camo net and binoculars, you press the "W" key, but the tank doesn't move, they still stop working. SerB: "Imagine it as if by pressing the W key the crew runs out of the vehicle, removes the camo net and the binoculars"

Lots of worthless crap skipped today. Apparently the Leopard 1 will really come later than expected and maybe not even after the British TDs patch.
- no exact ETA on the test, Storm states that "In development" portal section will get updated once the test begins (SS: logically that means it's not accurate now and that the february/march ETA for 8.4 is speculative)
- Leopard 1 won't be implemented earlier than summer 2013 (SS: this does NOT mean it will be implemented in summer, only that it will definitely not come till summer)
- Havok won't be implemented earlier than summer 2013 (SS: ditto)
- The graphical things that are going to be gradually improved (SS: not in any particular order): general graphics optimalisation, colour grading, quality and amount of dynamic lighting, tree and grass render, water render, special effects (SS: the video itself was linked by Storm, but he states it doesnt have to look like this actually, the colours can look differently, it's planned for the "medium" future - which means probably around a year)
- it's technically possible to introduce gradual increase in hull rotation in first split second, but it won't be implemented since the players got used to the current system already (SS: what this means is that especially some TDs, that have narrow gun arcs, but great hull turn rate sort of "jerk" whenever the hull moves, even a little, a player suggested that the initial 0,25-0,5s of steering should be smoother)
- massive tank rebalance won't happen in one of the near patches
- IS-7 side armor effective thickness:
http://i.imgur.com/GSFpZJu.jpg
- no further crit info on the post-battle debriefing screen planned
- 90-point companies won't return
- there are new medals planned
- Storm's game goal is to level up the British heavies to tier 10
- SerB thinks that the "Archipelago Gulag" book by A.Solzhenitsyn is a "badly written and historically unreliable book"
- it's possible better representation of shell hits (rather than current impact decals) will be introduced "if the videocards allow it"

Question d'équilibrage.

7.2.2013

- one of the reasons Type 62 is not being sold is that it's very similiar to the WZ-131
- SerB states that during peak hours, RU server runs at 78 percent capacity
- apparently it's legal to use Brazillian fascist symbolism ("Nurnberg tribunal didn't find them guilty and they didn't burn any villages here")
- cross-nation designation emblems will not be introduced (SS: for example the US star on German vehicles etc.)
- German crews will not get additional names and surnames in near patches
- winter-time city maps are planned
- using company section for other purposes (chat, platoon seeking) is not punisheable
- Some tier 5 light tanks can be a top vehicle in battles
- On WG implementing software into the client looking for legal mods? "no comment"
- Object 760 won't be implemented
- WG has enough drawing plans now for the Japanese tree (SS: if I understood this correctly)
- one of the Chi Ri variants is planned to have an autoloader (SS: according to Kankou (US forums), it's a belt-fed 75mm gun)
- it's not yet clear whether all the Chi-Ri variants are going to be designated as mediums
- Chi-Ri with torsion bar suspension and cast turret won't make it to tier 10 (SS: possibly it'll be lower tier)
- It's possible that the Chi-Ri with sloped frontal armor will be on tier 8, tier 9 and 10 are most likely to be one of the STA variants and one of the early STB models.
- There is ATM a hole in the Japanese tree between low-tier heavies (Type 91, Type 95) and high-tier tanks, WG is trying to fill it atm.
- Storm: Leopard 1 that will be introduced will be: Tier 9 - Prototype Arbeitsgruppe A (http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/48609_leopard-1-prototip-a2.jpg), Tier 10 - Leopard 1 - first production series
- Chinese tanks aren't expected to recieve a nerf, they behave normally
- Addition tank filters for the garage are unlikely
- SerB admits its possible not all trees will be symetrical - some nations might have light tanks up to tier 8, while others only up to tier 5
- the devs already have the alternative tier 10 Soviet medium, they won't tell for now
- there is a special account type where free cam is allowed (SS:for videos...)
- when the T-50-2 gets replaced (SS: yes it is confirmed), all the stats will most likely transfer to the tank that is going to replace it
- arties will not be un-nerfed even if the other precautions the devs take (hardcap, Expert medal changes) prove successful
- both the top version of the Soviet IS tank with the 122mm gun (and with the frontal hull armor "divided in the middle (http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/6/6c/IS_front_right.jpg)" (two parts with different angles) and the one with "streamlined (http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/7/75/IS2_2.jpg)" sloped armor without different angles) are correctly historically designated as "IS-2"
- the hull with the "divided armor" was selected for the tier 7 IS because there was never such a thing as an IS tank with 85mm gun and streamlined armor
- it was considered to divide the IS tank into more vehicles, but then it was denied, as the IS variants aren't very different from each other
- apparently there is a rumor running around that one KV-3 vehicle took part in WW2 fighting. It's not true - KV-220 did, KV-3 didn't.
- it's not yet sure that the T7 German LT "Aufklärungspanzer Panther" will be researched from the VK2801, or what its armament will be
- Q: "SerB, is it possible to introduce the real-life performance IS-7?" A: "You're a newfag :) Such an IS-7 there was already in the alpha test."
- vehicle economy is separated from balancing, occasionally however it has some small influence on it
- Chinese and British arty characteristics? "You'll see"
- the reason for 88mm L/71 and other German guns penetration being different from some German penetration: different methodology of what was considered a penetration and what wasn't, it's based on Russian results with captured guns
- Q: "Why are low tier battles the way they are - everyone penetrates everyone?" A: "Because it's ololololol"
- Q: "Jagdpanther II was removed from the main TD branch, what is its fate?" A: "Its fate is beautiful :)"
- Arty Batchat doesn't have an autoloader because the devs don't have references for it - if someone finds some, they'll add (It's referring to the fact the autoloader is not visually modelled within the hull apparently)
- only fallen trees count as one for the purpose of additional camo factor, standing trees still counts as multiple cover (multiple bushes)
- there will be no special XP compensation for Jagdpanther II users, the change is not related to the 2nd TD branch if I understand it correctly (SS: sorry, I'm really tired, just correct me if I am wrong)
- SerB thinks the new tutorial will be only for new players, but he's not 100 percent sure
- it's not planned for players to make their own maps
- there will be no free garage slot given out in 8.4 (not as in the AMX ELC case, "because we do not insert new tanks, we only push the existing ones up one tier")
- regarding the Waffenträger 2nd German TD branch: "It's not a Waffenträger branch, it's an open-topped TD branch. It will come in 2013."
- Valentine TD is NOT the Archer. There won't be the Archer in 8.4
- apparently, dynamic vehicle characteristics (in hangar) are being worked on
- Wespe will now be unlockable from Marder, it's not a bug
- although some of the British TD vehicles have multiple guns, multi-gun mechanism was not yet developed, eg. AT-7 will behave much like M3 Lee.
- M26 top turret mantlet thickness is 203mm
- Sexton I confirmed as US vehicle
- FV215b and FV4005 Stage 2 (http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/4936/fv4005stage2001.jpg) are different vehicles (SS: apparently a lot of people mix them up)
- on the new tree, VK3601H is listed as "heavy", but this will actually be done later, not in 8.4

Storm on some changes in 8.4:

- lower frontal armor angle on Panther and vehicles based on its hull increased to historical 55 degrees (Jagdpanther, GW Panther, Panzer V/IV and others, does not concern Panther II and E-50)
- lower frontal armor angle on T-44 reduced to historical 45 degrees
- Caernarvon, Conqueror and FV215b - increased armor thickness of the meeting point between upper and lower frontal hull armor (203, 203, 254)
- Nvidia SLI support added
- removed the "exterior" hangar button blocking when the crew is incomplete
- (SS: I am really not sure what this means - an automatic chat log) added the ingame chat addressing (logging?) option - with or without autosave
- for vehicles and crews with Intuition perk and autoloader, when the the perk is triggered, it'll reload the whole autoloader and not just one cassette
- arty-mode FPS drop fixed for some configurations
- FPS in hangar limited to 60 FPS
- re-worked and optimalized the tank exhaust smoke effect
- returned the possibility to retrain the crew to a tank you don't physically own in the hangar - a special warning window added for this case
- added the fullscreen windowed mode ("maximize" button on the window)
- fixed the bug where the bug where the turret and gun barrel get stuck if a shell hits the turret
- fixed left speaker weird sound on some configurations, occuring after a shot
- fixed the bug with ammo reload when changing turrets
- fixed the bug where the barrel gets stuck in some cases when you aim at near obstacles

So much for the article. Storm explains some things in the discussion:

- the 60FPS limit in hangar is for the reason that some graphic cards try to generate very high FPS and therefore get too much used in the hangar, Storm also states Vsync didn't work, at least not always
- regarding the fact it was banned to retrain crews to vehicles not physically present in the garage: "We solved that and decided more harm than good would come out of it"
- Malinovka and Westfield assault mode gets removed for re-work, because they were imbalanced: Westfield more than Malinovka
- Storm doesn't know why Sexton I counts as "American"
- Caernarvon, Conqueror and FV215b have the same amount of fuel tank hitpoints as other tanks of the same tier
- "test will show" about the statistics of the VK2801
- test will "not start this week" (SS: they probably don't want to collide with the Chinese weekend)
- garage chat channel history: "when it's done it's done"
- Pz IC and Pz IIG armament? "it will be seen in the test"
- tier 10 Brit HESH ammo won't be changed to HEAT/APDS soon, as far as Storm knows

Returned option to retrain crew to a vehicle that is missing in player's hangar: there is a separate warning window for it as well
Added full-screen windowed mode (maximize button)
Fixed vehicle gun going up along with turret traverse when taking hit on the turret
Fixed vehicle gun going up along with turret traverse when aiming at close object
Fixed "noise" in left speaker after shooting for some configurations
Fixed ammo order when changing turret or gun

That's it for now.

9.2.2013

- apparently there are not enough British turretted tank destroyers for a whole branch (Q: "Are the rumors that there aren't enough British turretted TDs unfounded?" A: "They aren't unfounded")
- SerB states that apart from the Luchs, the other vehicles being lifted up one tier didn't really have to be rebalanced, as they were balanced around tier 5 and 6 previously already (they were balanced one tier higher)
- the reason the Panzer II and Panzer III/IV arty tree links were removed is that the devs don't like them, they consider them ugly, confusing and unnecessery
- German Leopard MT branch, French HT and MT alternative branches weren't scrapped, even though they were removed from the new tree, developers will simply add them in future patches
- FV215b TD doesn't have a fully treaverseable turret, it moves only to 45 degrees to each side, it has worse armor than FV215b HT and the gun has 1150 alpha, it's compensated by other characteristics (might not be final, tests will show)
- the reason the British TD branch wasn't published in advance was that it changed a lot in the process, the developers will continue in this trend
- E100 armor is bugged, it'll be fixed (example 1 (http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/96846_shot_216.jpg), example 2 (http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/21556_shot_215.jpg)) (SS: if I understand correctly, it's something about the welds and the spaced armor, which does work however)
- tier 7 and 9 companies are not planned
- the changes in the German lower tiers are partially tied to the new German medium branch introduction, which will start from the VK2001DB (SS: don't worry, VK3002DB will be a part of it)
- the British will have more researchable TDs (SS: turreted branch meant)
- Storm says Jagdpanzer E100 statistics are fine
- SU-100Y uses two types of AP shells (one with high pen and lower damage, the golden ones with higher damage and lower pen), this is intentional and will be kept so
- Kpz70 won't be introduced
- new re-worked maps shouldn't be as bumpy as the older re-worked stuff
- new maps should come "soon"
- according to SerB, EU server is better than RU cluster lag-wise, as the European data streams (? data ways? not sure what the proper IT term is - anyway, the paths thru which the data go) are better
- FV4005 was refused as a top TD "for a good reason"
- FV300 series vehicles? "no comment"

Q&A - Storm Special

Source: http://world-of-kwg.livejournal.com/154975.html

Storm discusses what pisses people off. Basically it's a huge Q&A brainstorm. Here's the info, gleaned from the comment section:

SS: RU players are asking all sorts of weird and useless bullshit. The prevalent issue people have a beef with seems to be the "sticky" gun barrel (resp. aiming circle) when near some buildings.

- there are no more game modes planned (SS: apart from historical and garage battles), Storm states it's just too big an undertaking, while the developers have many small things to work on
- in the hangar, a mechanism will be implemented to allow players to pre-set their tanks into groups for easier selection
- the "bug" where the aim sticks to a nearby object and slides along them in arcade more (SS: nearby a building the aim goes up for example) cannot be fixed, as it is one of the fundamental flaws of the engine (SS: the issue originates in the fact that while the sniper mode works with the gun axis itself, the arcade mode doesn't, it works with different gun and camera angles and the corellation between them causes the issue)
- the "invisible" flat rail wagons in Ensk will be made brighter
- there will be a new "tank is burning" effect to make the fact the tank is on fire more clear, when it's done it's done
- text chat in battle is not planned to be switcheable off, because it would reduce team interaction
- tracers will recieve a complete overhaul
- it could be possible to remove one map from the random pool - two and more create bad issues during the teammaking phase
- the bug where when you buy gold ammo for silver and switch turret on the vehicle, the currency switches back to gold will be fixed in 8.4
- Storm states that night battles look cool, but gameplay-wise they are really bad
- there will be a sound effect remake, for example special sounds when tracks are hit, when gun is hit etc.
- no random battles skill MM ever!
- no solid gun barrels
- vertical tech tree won't return
- there will be no general limits on the amount of one type of vehicle in companies/CW/etc
- Storm has an idea already how to fix the excessive gun swinging when the vehicle moves over broken surface
- devs are okay with the amount of "paper" tanks and with the game economy
- CS-strike modes (bomb-defuse, VIP assassination) cannot be handled by random players, the game is aimed at casuals, a part of the game playerbase never played games before
- the platoon flood in some battles is not regarded as an issue
- serial AFKers will be punished more, devs already worked out some measures to fight them
- no special client version needed with lowered textures, Storm thinks it's enough to set the textures to minimum
- tank position update frequency (so tanks don't "teleport") won't be changed
- the plans to introduce popular mods directly into the game are being studied, it's not yet sure which mods, it's also not clear whether these mods will be introduced for everyone (SS: as in "maybe only for professional progamerer accounts?)
- no new shell types are planned
- applique armor module won't come in 2013 - takes too much work
- Storm likes the "Strategist music" battle chatter soundtrack, but states it's not for everyone and some find it distracting
- all tank visual models will be re-worked in the future for better detail
- the premium hightier Soviet medium tank will be a T-44 prototype with 85mm gun, won't come in near patches, but it will come in 2013 (SS: So I was right )
- teamdamage punishment system (from ramming) can't be fully automatic as it is impossible to always determine who's to blame
- working lights on tanks (weather etc.) - not in forseeable future
- ingame MP3 player won't be implemented
- dynamic tank naming (SS: Panzer IV with short 75 = Ausf.D, with long Ausf.F2 etc) got scrapped, it would cause confusion
- devs didn't get any proper suggestions how to handle the impact of heavy shells on very light targets (apart from the 3-caliber rule). A player suggested that during a ricochet of very large shell on thin armor, the shell does 25 percent of damage. Storm replies: "And players will whine: 'Why did the tank reflector/box/armor screen/crewmember/dog ate my shell damage?' It would lead to confusion. We thought about it and refused."
- the battle start timer won't be made shorter, as many players use the time to identify the team and tactics
- armor cracking (SS: thinner armor on spots that have been hit previously) won't be implemented
- realistic engine sounds (from real tanks) - not anytime soon, as it is really too complicated, there are very few running condition tanks left
- +-25 pen/dmg random factor won't change
- crewmember models won't be implemented into the game
- trollplatoons won't be disabled (eg. no limit on what tanks can platoon with what)
- multiturret mechanism is not planned until 2015
- low-tier HEAT shells will get a nerf
- Sixth sense won't be remade so it would keep the lightbulb icon lit for the whole time the tank is spotted, it would be imbalanced

11.2.2013

- SerB states that as a writer, he doesn't make much money, it's the computer games that pay the bills
- fully customizable writings on tanks won't be implemented
- after tier 10 arty is implemented, arties will get roughly the same +-2 MM as the other tanks
- it's not confirmed that SU-14 and S-51 will stay on their tiers
- SerB states that when a lowtier arty destroys the enemy tank by killing the whole crew (SS: the player asking says that this happens to him often when he plays SU-18), it is roughly equally as profitable as if the tank gets normally destroyed, but the whole issue is complicated
- Q: "What will the T57 nerf be like?" A: "Sudden and horrible"
- Japanese tanks:

Q: Are the following vehicles post-war made-up fakes?

1) 47mm Gun on Type 94 chassis:
http://cs405130.userapi.com/v405130600/6375/USDKoPDLJ2s.jpg

2) Chi-Ri with Type 2 75mm gun
http://cs405130.userapi.com/v405130600/637d/FrL-mqpxkZc.jpg

3) 150mm AA gun on Type 5 Ho-Ri chassis
4) 155mm Ho-Chi
http://cs405130.userapi.com/v405130600/6384/DYg8rgIf708.jpg

5) Is it true that the early O-I variants' armor was not thicker than 75mm?

A: Looks like 3) is not a fake, as for 5) - entirely possible on the early 100t variant. As for the rest - more or less probable, we'll see.

- it's not sure tier 8 premium arties will appear
- it's not sure how the T-50-2 situation will be handled, it's possible (SS: only possible, not likely) that T-50-2 might become premium, SerB is "consireding a lot of options
- all models for all tanks will be remade from scratch with better details, moving parts (ventilators, antenas) and turrets flying off when the tank is destroyed, this won't happen anytime soon
- pre-battle 30 second countdown won't be reduced
- Leopard won't recieve new guns, it's already balanced around tier 5
- no ETA on the turret part of the British TD's, but SerB confirms they will mostly have rapid fire guns
- Q: "SerB, what nice question would you ask yourself so it would a question
- British arty will come after T10 arties are implemented (SS: or with them, but not sooner)
- early French tank modifications from the 40's (Romanian R35 and such)? "I'll tell you when the time is right"
- WG has not yet promoted WoT in Japan
- Indien-Panzer is NOT a prototype for the Swiss Panzer 61
- it's possible the XP/credit earning mechanism will be updated to fit new ways of destroying tanks (physics and such)
- Q: "Why did you decide to scrap the British turreted TDs for now and introduce paper-armored turtles instead?" A: "Because turtles are cool"
- at tier 8 SerB states that roughly 0,5 gold shells are fired per battle
- SU-101 is doing okay statistic wise
- the whole issue with the +-45 degrees for FV215b TD might be some sort of rumor, SerB is not sure how it really is
- the reason why Malinovka and Westfield assault are removed is "disbalance", they will not return earlier than next regular patch
- SerB states, that the Sexton is in the american tree, because it's a joint project - the chassis was from the USA. However, whether it really will be put into the US tree or UK tree will be decided after the test
- after some time, WoT might have the same improved render as the WoWp
- according to SerB, Maus is doing okay in the contemporary World of Tanks
- if you aim in artymode at water (a lake), the trajectory displayed will lead towards the point on the bottom of the lake, not towards water surface
- when considering patch statistics, developers disregard first two weeks
- in future (not sure how close or far), standard render (SS: "old render") won't be supported anymore
- Q: "I think SerB is quietly trolling us!" A: "Why quietly?!"
- Q: "Can TOG shoot itself in the back?" A:"Buy it and try it, we don't have time for such crap"
- Q: "Is dynamic terrain going to be implemented?" A: "Not in the current version. In the future - who knows?"
- SerB states that the theory saying "If one team has a platoon of 3 heavies and the other platoon of 3 meds, they both end up on the top of the battle MM" is a myth
- devs tried to estabilish a FAQ for the most notorious questions - didn't work, noone read it
- T-34 model 1943 had thicker frontal armor (60mm)
- 100 percent crew training for silver is not planned
- it is not planned to introduce special gun spread for each type of ammo
- a T-34 premium tank of any type is not planned, because the devs are researching various T-34 variants and it's possible they might be introduced as normal vehicles.
- premium Churchill doesn't have a special XP modifier
- Elefant wasn't introduced separately, because it differs from Ferdinand too little

- Q: "Tanks such as Maus are dying off in randoms!" A: "We'll all die one day. Enough with the whining already, we can give you time off from the forums for healing your nerves" (SS: ....followed by RO ban)
- exact values of hidden parameters are not made public "to avoid whining" - their changes are however still written in patch notes
- a player complained that he hears "turret damaged" voice message on his Object 263, which has no turret - SerB answers that it's not a turret that got damaged, rather than the gun traverse mechanism (its engine), which is found in all turretless TDs
- the oldest running tank the developers drove in real life was Panzer IV (Pasholok), the newest was M48 Patton (Kisliy)
- only the VK3601 will have the Konisch gun in the future
- the unlockable various hulls (as modules) won't come anytime soon
- SerB states that the materials from Chinese partners, provided on Chinese vehicles did contain various machines, unfit to be implemented into WoT, but interesting nonetheless
- players won't be notified further in advance (SS: for example during loading screen) on which base they will appear, SerB states that the countdown time is enough
- arty won't get flatter shell trajectory
- T23 "was not sent to the graveyard"
- Vickers Light Tank Mk.VI was not introduced as tier 1, because Vickers Medium seemed better for the role because it was "logical engineering-wise"
- confirmed there will be no LT hardcap
- devs are generally satistfied with the T-54, but if the big re-work of all tanks happens, it'll get a massive overhaul
- S-Tank will not be introduced into the game, because it would require the implementation a very special aiming game mechanism, SerB states that it aimed by moving the entire vehicle, that would be very awkward in the game and he doesn't think it's worth implementing because of one tank only
- The Chinese IS-2 is called IS-2 and not JS-2 (SS: In Russian Iosif Stalin is written with J) as the Soviets wrote it, because the "I" version is a generally recognised version world-wide
- SerB states that a lot of the Chinese competition winners had crews with 4 skills on the start from the Type 59
- confirmed: Leopard and VK2801 won't get buffed (SS: apart from the HP? unclear) when they are pushed one tier higher, nothing will change for them

Japanese tanks answers:

- SerB states that the vehicle designated Type 5 "Tok" is a 300mm mortar, analogical to the Type 4 Ha-To, based on the Type 4 Chi-Ri or Type 5 Chi-Ri hull
- about the guns bigger than 105mm installed on the Ho-Ri chassis: "Most likely a 120mm naval gun. There were projects with 140mm gun, passed from the fleet to the coastal defense, but I do not have accurate data yet"
- O-I project was allegedly designed with other guns that came earlier than the 105mm: "We don't have any data on that yet. It's possible a 150mm howitzer was considered earlier, because on the early project of colonel Iwakuro this gun is mentioned specifically"
- SerB states that the Type 96 heavy is possibly the Iwakuro tank
- the "visible modules" (SS: for example different tracks in winter) are considered for the "big model overhaul", but no info yet
- hitting a turret rotation mechanism won't cause fires
- it's completely possible that in next patches, the same thing as happens to the German light tanks in 8.4 will happen to the light tanks of the other nations (eg. T-50, Chaffee and others getting pushed one tier up)
- Q: "Will there be inmplemented powerful derp vehicles on top tiers?" A:"E100"
- the rangefinder and other more modern features are not implemented separately, they reflect in the view range and gun accuracy
- purely Swedish branch of the EU tree is unlikely, SerB states it's logical to tie it to the Czech one

13.2.2013

- the amount of played arties was reduced by about 40 percent (after the nerf + hardcap)
- when a shell penetrates an armor screen (spaced armor) or tracks, it doesn't change its trajectory
- Ferdinand won't be moved anymore this year (SS: not one tier up, or down, or to a separate branch)
- it's still not yet decided how the German 2nd medium line will look
- Sorted by priority (from most to least): garage battles, turrets flying off, historical battles, multi-turret mechanism
- 0.8.5 will bring a new map
- it's not planned to specifically give the assaulting team light tanks and arty in the assault mode (SS: as in to force them into the assaulting party MM)
- no 4th equipment/consumable slot planned
- VK3601 will me turned into a heavy after the 0.8.4 patch, it's possible its MM weight will be changed
- it's possible that the outstanding parts of the tank (antennas etc.) will cast shadows
- EU tree is too far for the devs to know, what kind of symbol will those tanks carry
- T23 won't be sold (SS: the answer was only "no" - it is actually unclear, what the player is asking about, whether he's asking for it to be sold as a regular vehicle, or as a premium vehicle or at all - thus it's unclear what Storm meant by the answer)
- Leopard 2 prototype will not be introduced (SS: yes, people are actually asking such dumb shit)
- Q: "Why is there no North-Korean flag in WoT?" A: "When the genius of geniuses in military strategy, new star, brilliant comrade Kim Jong Un allows his Korean comrades to play World of Tanks, we will immediately address this issue"
- Fiat 3000 will be implemented, but other mutations of the FT-17 ("Russkij Reno", US M1917) won't, Japanese Tier 1 could be the "Kogata Sensha", but SerB states there is something else already at tier 1 for Japan
- the option for players to enter only battles without platoons won't be implemented
- enabling the option where the tank in sniper mode rocks after shooting has no advantage for the player, "it's just prettier"
- there apparently will be no crew training compensation when VK3601 turns into a heavy, even if it is followed by a medium: "retraining costs the same for every class in gold, so what's the difference"
- various vehicles get various XP for destroying other classes, for example LT's get more XP for destroying arty than other classes
- the Chinese T-34 has more modern suspension than Type 58 (which has the "classical" T-34 suspension) in the game, because the devs have a photo of this particular vehicle having this particular suspension
- SerB states that the British Nuffield TDs having two guns aren't a problem, the second gun will serve as a decoration and the vehicles will have two loaders, even when the multigun mechanism is implemented, those second small guns will remain a decoration, as their impact and penetrating power are negligible (SS: 20mm Polsten)
- system of penetration decals might be upgraded, but not soon
- 310 series of Nvidia drivers have a bug that makes the game crash at the research tree - Storm suggests using 306 series drivers
- this (http://imageshack.us/a/img203/4738/picturetz.jpg) is the picture of the Valentine AT

Confirmed German new top LT: RU215 (more info here (http://ftr-wot.blogspot.cz/2013/02/confirmed-german-top-lt-will-be-ru251.html))

- it's not yet decided what will happen to equipment meant for medium tanks (rammers etc.) on a VK3601 tank, when it turns into a heavy. Storm will tell before the patch.
- VK2801 was nerfed because it has a different MM now, it won't drop into hightier battles (removed from MM tiers 11 and 12)
- FV215b HESH shell is not deemed overpowered, as it has its own flaws: it explodes on spaced armor and external modules and doesn't do full damage, it also doesn't have normalisation
- after cutting the VK2801 MM, Germans now don't have a top tier LT. "Keep an eye on following patches"
- The Churchill Gun Carrier will be unlocked from Churchill I, not Churchill VII - the way it is on the test server now is a bug.

16.2.2013

- it's not yet clear how much XP will the CGC cost
- according to Storm, the FV215b 183mm gun is not overpowered: "Full damage is difficult to deal. The HESH shells don't use normalisation and they explode on tracks, gun, mantlet and spaced armor. And the vehicle itself is paper-armored. In regular random battles it will be very difficult to survive while dealing full gun damage.
- Storm admits FV215b (183) might be overpowered in very skilled hands, but states the vehicle requires a lot of skill- the re-worked Steppes are fine game-wise according to Storm (SS: players complained it has been too much "hillified", like Prokhorovka and El-Halluf, despite Storm writing earlier they wouldnt do such a thing)
- Sexton will be British when implemented, but will be tested as American (Storm claims he's not in a hurry to change it)
- British turret TD branch confirmed, unclear as to what vehicles will be implemented in it (SS: Storm is home sick apparently, he doesn't have the concept with him)
- devs will most likely implement a feature where post-battle statistics will show damage dealt instead of XP earned, no ETA
- it's not possible to add the 75mm L/70 to VK2801, it doesn't fit
- the WoT bug with 310 series of Nvidia drivers is not Wargaming's fault, other games have issues too
- Storm says, that when the battle loads during the loading screen and when it reaches the end, nothing happens - it's the fault of installed mods in 99 percent of cases
- Arizona and Savannah maps were completely scrapped
- the current developer plan is to introduce one branch per 1,5 months
- Nvidia SLI system increases the FPS by 20-30 percent
- confirmed (several times): E50/E50M will have the same depression in 8.4 as it has in 8.3
- the 30mm autocannon from Panzer IIG (and other tanks) uses depleted uranium ammunition (SerB posts source)
- if I interpret this correctly, the new German tier 8 LT (RU251) will lead to Leopard the way Chinese LT branch leads back into the medium one
- Recon skill gives 0,2 percent view range bonus per each 10 percent skill, if the observation device is broken however, it's 2 percent per 10 percent skill
- Storm states World of Tanks uses 2 processor cores - one fully, one partially
- German Somua S35 won't have its MM spread reduced, the tank is doing fine statistics-wise
- regarding why E50 depresion was "fixed" while Object 263 (which is also clipping) wasn't: "We can't fix everything at once"
- Tortoise HP amount isnt a bug
- nation trees will be re-made so they aren't confusing
- T95 won't recieve a HP buff to match the Tortoise (its armor is apparently enough)
- 8.4 should bring better reworked maps (SS: less hilly apparently)

So far for the classic source. Now, Storm opened a new blog thread where he talks about the bugs and issues of patch 8.4. Here's a summary of this thread:
- IS-3 nose armor (shape) is not correct, it'll be fixed (SS: no details)
- HE damage to suspension will be increased (SS: okay, this is something I really don't understand as I didn't know there is an issue with HE damage and suspension: the question is "Will there be full damage to tracks with HE shells in the following patch?" and the answer is "yes")
- a new function was added - now you can select shell type even when the countdown is running at the beginning
- the new tutorial is only the first part, there will be other parts, where the player will fight bots and learn how to react in certain situations
- Brit TD HESH shells are not overpowered according to Storm, they just look that way, just as the MT HESH shells looked OP during the first test, in reality the spectacular crits won't be common
- new tracers are considered more realistic
- the British TDs are going to be released roughly the way they are now, especially the Tortoise - Storm says it has bad armor, that's why it has so much HP
- T71 hull will not be changed (SS: some player complained it's not "historical")
- currently there is a bug with Radeon graphic cards, it will be fixed (SS: the screenshot was deleted but from the description, the picture is too dark and there are some strange objects)

- the 7,92mm EW141 penetration comes from the fact it did not use regular 7,92mm ammo, rather than long Panzerbüchse 38 cartridges (7,92x94 Patrone 318)
- the gold camo price for VK2801 won't be returned - when it reaches tier 6, you actually get free T6 camo for the price of T5
- all WG projects will have at one point a single player account
- according to SerB there is no need to implement an autoloader tank for every game nation tree
- ingame Centurions won't be modified to recieve less crits
- British arty branch will be "historical", when it comes to compatibility of modules with current British tanks/TDs (SS: however, from what I understand, currently the British arty is in "general balancing" stage, eg. the models are already made)
- Japanese tree doesn't have LTs all the way to tier 8
- the way the Soviet arty branch will look after tier 10 arty is introduced is "still secret"
- Q: "Will there be some drastically new modes introduced?" A (SerB): "Sure, tanks will grow gardens, collect harvest and visit each other in their homes" (SS: the real answer is no)
- no ETA on 1x1 maps (Q: Can we expect them this year? A: Well, you can always expect...)
- camo mechanics reworked? "As always, I'll tell when the time is right"
- regarding hightier Soviet and British LTs: "Soviet LTs were just on paper - there is little data on them. The British have nothing comparable to - say - AMX-13/90" and "FV300 LT can make tier 6, Scorpion tier 5 max, Sheridan is unlikely to make tier 8", Soviet LTs will be revealed "later, wait for announcements". The T7 and T8 US vehicles might be the Walker Bulldog and the T92.
- the FV4005 Stage 2 183mm introduction confirmed by SerB in British arty branch (SS: god knows why, the 183mm was not a howitzer)
- British arty branch: it will not be like the French one, it's possible it will fire HESH shells, it will have some autoloaders (which most likely will not be displayed), it will come with or after the introduction of tier 10 arties, they will have from +-35 to +-45 degrees gun arc
- RU server started its 6th cluster in test mode, it's in Moscow (no server in Ukraine planned due to bad infrastructure)
- there will be no XP compensation for XP spent on current T5 LTs
- not ALL the current blind t5 LT branches will end with T8 and not all will be merged back with other branches (some will stay blind)
- Storm says that the White Tiger in the movie was driven by a demon
- there will eventually be new camos introduced, but not in any of the near patches
- there are no special torque differences in game (SS: eg. a diesel tank doesn't overtake a gasoline tank just because diesel engines have higher torque)
- server lags are "being studied" (SS: Storm acknowledges the issue)
- developers can't use "cheat codes" to add gold/anything for themselves
- in the future there might be working machineguns, SerB is considering options, for example to use them for target designation. But nothing is certain (they certainly won't work as "usual" weapons, as SerB states the amount of projectiles calculated would crash the server)
- a player complained that when he is in a platoon, the platoon is very often on the bottom places of the team - Storm answers that the vehicles are balanced according to their weight and not to correspond in each team, it's not a bug
- there will be no special battles without arty, arty won't be removed from the game (SS: sorry, Garbad)
- the 1750 HESH for FV215b will stay
- tutorial fights with bots won't be for all players, only for beginners
- gold for VK2801 camo will not be refunded (SS: a player whines he wants his gold for permacamo back because the VK2801 sucks now)
- 8.3 is NOT working without problems with 310.90 Nvidia driver, 8.4 won't work with it either - it's not a WG bug, it's a driver bug, WG can't do anything about it, Storm recommends older versions (SS: Im using 306, without problems)
- (any) tank is evenly spread across its MM tiers
- the difference between MM weights of two teams can be 10 percent at the most
- all the tier 5 light tanks will be converted (to T6 and MM-wise) the way VK2801 was, both T-50-2 and Chaffee will be pushed to T6 (and nerfed) when their light branches are expanded
- German LT branch will be expanded in 8.5 (SS: T7 - Aufklärungspanzer Panther, T8 - RU251)

20.2.2013

- Q: "Dear devs, you stated the camo mechanism might change, why is it needed to change it?" A: "Because big vehicles are hard to camouflage" (SS: Hmmm... big tank camo nerf?)
- HE splash passes thru solid objects, because it's impossible to model in real time the explosion "flow" physics around them
- the hidden "module damage" shell characteristic also has +/-25 percent spread
- Churchill GC will cost 49050 XP to unlock from Churchill I
- the shell trajectories in WoT do not respond to those in real life - for example they are symmetrical, while in real life air resistance makes the trajectory asymetrical
- SerB confirms it's possible to "bend" regular shells (eg. to fire behind a hill), doesn't tell how exactly - he only suggests "perform experiements".
- according to Storm, ramming collision model works fine (SS: player was complaining that tracks eat up way too much ramming damage)
- Storm is testing, whether the new Nvidia drivers from yesterday work properly with WoT (SS: so far, according to Russian feedback, the new drivers work just fine)
- apparently, there is no "excessive" damage, external modules don't eat damage (SS: players were complaining about tracks and gun eating damage and only the leftover damage being transferred to the enemy tank HP, Storm says there is no such thing)
- track repair time based on the speed the vehicle was going when detracked won't be implemented
- later vehicles such as Abrams, Challenger and T-72 will NOT be implemented
- it's not yet decided how the EU tree crewmembers will work, it's too soon to tell

Overlord answers some questions on 8.4 and other topics

Source: http://overlord-wot.blogspot.fr/2013/02/wot-84-test-impressions-post.html
As always, the questions were redacted by me. I'd also hereby like to express my thanks to Overlord for being the only developer who bothers with posting in English and keeps answering our sometimes silly questions :)

Q: How's it with Garage Battles?
A: No time frame for garage battles at this stage, we are thinking of a totally new concept for them and not ready to announce it just yet.

Q: New maps?
A: Neither mods nor maps were planned for 8.4. Next update will bring at least one new map.

Q: What about the E-sports and endgame?
A: Guess, you have already heard of our thoughts on promoting esports and competitive play in-game (possible new mode). We are thinking of an in-game support for 7/42 mode with skill-based matchmaking, ratings and such stuff. Full teams are much harder to find. We are going to promote other formats as well. As for CWs, I have said enough in the recent posts. We are planning a lot of changes. CW is becoming a high priority these days. Unfortunately it hasn't been so up until now.

Q: Yeah yeah ... CW. Many clans are giving up as there are some "old boys" just sitting on provinces for last two years with no way to get rid of them without nukes, so who cares anyway?
A: That's why we need regular wipes and seasons.

Q: What about duel battles for example?
A: Duels would require special maps and are likely to be a kind of entertainment for very few.

Q: What about the number of drawing/prototype tanks in World of Tanks, isn't that a problem?
A: I can't say that agree here. AT-series has got its place in game just like most of top tier German, American, Soviet, and especially French tanks that have seen no or little no service and/or combat use. If you take a closer look, I'm sure you are good at warfare history, you will see how limited was RL usage of tanks with most of the nations having only several highly reliable and popular models. Not dozens. With our numbers (200+ tanks), we don't plan to maintain 100% authenticity, borders have been watered down.

Q: Skill-based MM?
A: Skill-based MM-ing will work only for ranked battles - eg 7/42 mode.

Q: Why not skill-based MM in randoms?
A: Because ordinary player shouldn't be punished for its skill, getting the hardest possible competition in every battle.

Q: Historical battles in random?
A: As for historical battles, we dont think they are suitable for random. They should contain some nicely developed PVE element. That requires time.

Q: OMG, anti-German bias!
A: There should be smth anti-german in every update. ..... Everything is good apart from the "German tanks were superior on the battlefield because they communicated and teams that communicate are superior in WOT" thing. You really need to abandon all myths.

Q: How fast will the new tank branches come?
A: Allow at least 1.5 months for each tank line.

Q: About the 8.4 test Tortoise - I am a bit confused: it has quite a weak armor (or more specifically, a huge weakspot on one of its sides). Storm wrote that it's intentional and it's compensated by high HP pool, but some people claim he was being ironic and that the Tortoise is scheduled for an armor buff (and the weakspot is a bug). How is it really?
A: Armour groups on Tortoise are messed up - half of its front hull is 38mm. Guys will see to it and fix the bugs.

Q: What about the pre-battle countdown?
A: As for "countdown is supposed be used to make a plan" there was some discussion of how to improve the situation, but it hasn't been finalized and is not in development yet.

21.2.2013

- only amount of platoons in battle is balanced specifically, not their MM weight
- British T8 prem won't come in 8.5
- Q: "Is it worth collecting XP on Chaffee and T-50-2 for when they are moved to T6 and the branch is prolonged?" A: "Always better to wait for announcements" (SS: in other words, another confirmation the fate of VK2801 awaits them too)
- Kampfpanzer M47 (germanised M47) will NOT be a T8 German premium medium vehicle, Storm says it's more like T9,5 material
- 0 module damage bug: Storm claims it's an old bug, around from 7.4, it will be fixed in 8.5 or 8.6
- the issue whether Leopard-1 will get a Bundeswehr cross will be solved later
- SerB on War Thunder: "Release will show what is what"
- no tier 10 premium tanks will be implemented, ever
- sub-caliber rounds do not ricochet more than AP ones in WoT
- on 7/42 companies and statistics: "If your statistics are precious to you, don't play 7/42 companies"
- SU-122-44, Panther M10 and AT-15A are doing fine statistically
- not all trees will have T8 LT's
- T-34-100 back into the game? "We rarely bury tanks for good. The tank is interesting but for now we can't tell anything about its fate"
- SerB considers IS-7 to be overnerfed
- T-64 early prototype in WoT? "We won't comment on that"
- for an ammoracked vehicle to be forced to buy all the ammo (that was destroyed during the explosion) would be too hardcore, won't be implemented
- it's not clear whether the barrel of a destroyed tank counts as "solid", it has been changed several times in the past
- SerB states that the duty to enforce the 12+ policy is on the parents, Wargaming doesn't have a way to control the player age
- those who trade their accounts are banned if the evidence is clear
- there might be a tree bridges between UK and Chinese regular vehicles and arties - SerB won't tell details, because there would be too much whine if this was changed
- SerB is happy with current Batchat155 performance
- in the Brit tree, AT8 is before AT7 due to their performance characteristics
- according to SerB, Chinese tanks are played by a normal amount of people, the most popular branch is the USSR
- it's not yet decided whether the Italians will be a part of the EU tree, or will have their own
- Japanese "O-Ni" superheavy project is unknown to Serb, he knows of other names
- SerB does not yet know, whether the Japanese light tank "57mm gun Type 5 Ke-Ho" will be implemented
- tier 2 Japanese arty was already decided, but won't be published for now
- regarding the Iwakuro tank, the only option for it was the 150mm gun, early O-I (and some others) might have a long-barreled 75mm gun (of unknown type) and a 105mm howitzer
- the bug where on minimum settings you don't see the objects properly and it can happen that you aim into a rock while you don't see anything there cannot be fixed, because in order to improve performance, the surface grid is too sparse and there might be a difference between the object picture on the server and on the client. Minimum settings should be used on really bad machines only.

And some answers from Storm (I'll just copy here the ones I did for the 8.4T2 patchnotes first, some were modified)

- Tortoise won't get the nerf, not even in 8.5
- the new Nvidia drivers contain the same bug as the old ones
- AT7 research test cost (9647 XP) is a bug, will be fixed
- the E-100 fix concerned frontal plate, (SS: not sure how it looks on the schematics but from what I understand come parts of the armor were improperly aligned (angles), causing the parts to be easy to penetrate), devs won't disclose what exactly they did, only the fact the bug was fixed
- Churchill I price confirmed to be cca 49000 (SS: 49050 stated earlier)
- on IS-6 "some little crap on the model" was fixed
