    Positive report:

RC1 has been running flawlessly on a dual socket Opteron 6216 system with 64GB of ram. UP mode (SMP disabled)

    (2) AMD Opteron 6212
    (8) 8GB DDR3-1333 Reg ECC
    (1) Supermicro H8DG6 server board

I see "stasio" posting a link in several forums to a Memtest86+ V5.0 RAR file. Is this still RC1 or has V5.0 been finalized?

  3. #303
The files has been posted publicly by different developer (very close to Doc ).

  4. #304
So are two people developing Memtest86+ V5.0 concurrently or what is the deal? Is stasio really Doc or what?

  5. #305
    Hehe,no I am not Doc.
Both of them are in this forum.

Doing a new build and testing the RAM. At the moment there is no Hard Disk, so just booting MemTest+ from USB.

    MoBo - Asus M5A97 R2.0 Latest BIOS (1708)
    CPU - AMD FX6300
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x4GB, 9-9-9-24, 1.5V (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9)
Everything in the BIOS suggests that it is running exactly as advertsised.

    Tried MemTest+ 4.20 first.
This reported the RAM as 230\640MHz, DDR2, 1-3-3-3

Recommended to try Beta 5.00 RC1
This is reportiung the RAM as 739\1478, DDR3, BCLK 92, 9-9-9-24

So a lot closer than the nonsense that 4.20 reports but still not right (I hope!).

Do you think this is a reporting error or is it possible that the RAM clock frequency is 92MHz even though the BIOS says that it is 100MHz?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

I registered specifically just to contribute my findings. Here are the results and list of systems I tested on.

    MEMTEST 5.00RC1

This is a list of PCs I have successfully used MEMTEST 5.00 RC1 on as of today.

All but three passed with no problems - read ***NOTES sections.
All are running Windows 7 64bit.
These are all my personal machines used in my test lab. About 6 or 7 others I did not have time to test (and don't get me started on how many VMWARE machines I have!!!).

Can we get an update about the development maybe?

  9. #309
Thanks for your hard work on Memtest86+

I'm running RC1 with this spec:

    2x E5-2667 @ 2.90GHz on Intel S2600IP
    64GB (8x 8GB DDR3-1333)

    The good:
It ran over a weekend in default mode (SMP disabled) without problems

    The bad:
Option F2 (SMP enabled): system will crash / halt after 1 or 2 minutes every time (it usually gets through the first test)
Option F3: system will run for a few minutes, but then start to produce endless errors

Does anyone knows if / when the SMP issues (which others have reported too) are being worked on?

Can we get an update on the development please?

    Thanks

Tried to use RC1 by just dropping it in place of my 4.20 version of memtest that is running (partially) from pxe boot over serial console. But I'm getting nothing on the serial console with RC1. Has serial support been included with RC1?

    What happened to the developer??

Thank you for memtest86+. It served me very well over the years for checking new PCs and memory boards.

Now, I have a BOX that uses C202 chipset motherboard: the box is made by Fujitsu. c202 supports ECC, and so I use ECC memory boards.
    CPU is Intel G640.

    I ran memtest86+ 5.00 RC1 on it and found it didn't run
    successfully in default mode.

That is, if I let memtest86+ 5.00RC1 using its detection mode (without hitting F3 [or was it F1?]),
it starts OK, but after a second test or so, it begins showing errors. (It seems it reads a wrong location or something and prints incorrect read of a fixed value over and over.)

If I start memtest86+, and hit F3 and let it run (without detection), at least, memtest86+ runs successfully.
But it is a pity that it can not report on the memory information, ECC status, etc.
The test repeated overnight and I found no errors (which should be the case with good ECC memory.)

I can try to post the screenshot (hazy on my mobile, but still readable) or
try dumping some values if it is necessary for debugging.

    TIA

    Hi

I've ran the RC1 (as well as older versions) on two different HP Z400 workstation, and it detects only a very small amount of memory :

I've tested in both safe mode and multi-threaded mode, no difference. When I display the memory configuration, it does sees the three DIMM slots being used by 3x2048MB.

    Did I do something wrong?
Insert CoinZ - Tynril.8936 - Frann - Sylvari Ranger - Cærh - Human Mesmer - Flow Meiho - Asura Elementalist

I tried the 5.00 RC1 (booting from CD) on my PC.

In default mode (multi CPU) I get errors somewhere in test #3. Lots of them, they just keep scrolling/counting.

In single CPU mode (fail safe) it runs without detecting any error. Also v4.20 does not detect any error.

    HW details:
    Intel Core i5-2320
Northbridge Intel Sandy Bridge rev. 09
    Southbridge Intel H61 rev. B3

    2x 2GB DDR3 1333 CL 9

    Mainboard Model MS-7728 (MSI OEM, the PC is a Medion P5350 D (MD8895) )
gfc card : NVIDIA GeForce GT 530

PS: Interestingly, memtest86 4.2.0 (without the plus, the competition) behaves similarly: default (multi cpu) mode gives gobs of errors, while single CPU mode works OK with no errors detected.

I hope that Doc is just busy? We haven't heard from him in quite awhile...

You can find what it seems to be a final version in the Reviewer kit for Intel Haswell from the CPUID website.
