Hi everyone - I would like this post to be taken as a preliminary initiation of keeping the standalone (no installer) version of CPU-Z alive. Yes, I am fully aware that it is being released in two ways, one with installer and the good ol' standalone version.
Whether or not an Installer version remains is not really a concern. Where I am trying to get at here is that I would love if CPU-Z kept being released as a standalone EXE too.
The reason why I would like to keep it this way is because I have synchronized tools (small standalone apps, e.g. CPU-Z, HWMonitor, PsTools, etc) amongst my computers (work and home PC). This allows me to have all my mini tools available on all my workstations and at the same time I just update one and all get updated simultaneously. Now if the CPUID guys decide to move to Installer only, this dreamland would be killed off.
All in all, I do understand the stable-ness (is that even a word?) and upper hand of having an installer do all the dirty work of installing drivers and whatnot, instead of at app boot-time to install and uninstall at shutdown. However, this is just a plea to keep the standalone version alive.
Congrats on an amazing line of products, guys.
