Hi,

In CPUz 1.50 the Multiplier always shows as x 20.0 on my i7 920.

I have it over clocked to 4GHz 200 x 20 but I also use the C-State Tech energy saving feature in the BIOS which appears to lower the multiplier to reduce the CPU power usage during idle times.

The ASUS software reports my multiplier at x12 when the computer is idle, but CPUz still shows it as x20.

I also use Real Temp and it shows the multiplier hopping around between 15 and 17 most of the time, so I don´t know who to believe....

Is it, as ASUS reports, x12 ? or as Real Temp reports x15-17 ? or as CPUz reports x20 ?

They all show this at the same time so I don't know who to believe...

No one from CPUz care to comment on this ? I don't know how CPUz is coded in terms of reporting the multipliers so I don't know if this behaviour is by design (in that its programmed to always show the maximum operating speed regardless of power reducing BIOS features) or if this in fact a bug with the i7 core reporting and it should in fact show the 'actual' present value of the multiplier instead...

Any info would be appreciated..

You didn't post a register dump as suggested in the FAQ.

Anyways, I do think there's a problem with the multiplier on i7 920s...

This is a stock configuration, BIOS set to automatic or default for everything but the multiplier is 1x too high...

Attached is a screen capture and a registers dump.

I know about that "issue", without really knowing if it is an issue or not.
I assume that Asus tool and RealTemp use the same method as for Core 2 to report clock, and actually this method is not correct on Core i7 anymore.
I choosed the "less perturbating" method, that works in most cases on that CPU.

Core i7 has a very unusual way to manage clocks, and I tried to reflect it as close as possible.

21 Multiplier on i7 920 is correct
20 is the base 20*133=2.66 Ghz
21 is the Turbo Boost 21*133=2.79 Ghz
