Voir la version complète : Memtest not testing some memory ranges...and is testing others that don't exist!

Hi there and thanks for having me on the forum

I have just run Memtest86+ v2.01 for several hours with no errors. Good news for my RAM!

However, I noticed that during each pass, each Test was run 3 times, once each on the following ranges:

128K - 2048M
2048M - 3068M
4096M - 5056M

The amount of testable RAM was said to be 4027M

So it seemed odd to me that it never did tested 3068 - 4096M, and that it was testing a range that is not there (4096-5056)! Is this normal?

I have an Intel DP35DP motherboard and 2x 2gb Corsair (TWIN2X4096-6400C5).

Cheers

Max

Damn. I should really add this in the FAQ

I'm working on a new version of the FAQ which contains these kind of things, I just need to find some time to wrap things up on the new FAQ

Nice one - thanks for clarifying that.

Just one other thing, is it OK to use 4 x2gb sticks (8gb total) and test all the sticks at once? I'm on WinXP at the moment so can only use 4gb maximum. But I have the additional RAM on a shelf for when I eventually go 64-bit. I want to check ALL the RAM is ok and works together now, even if I won't be using it that way for the moment.

Cheers

You should test them together, moreover a lot of motherboard don't really like to have 4 modules at the same time...

Well, if you don't overclock, that's not a problem.

OK - ran for 8 passes with all 4 sticks in.....NO Errors. So that's good news.

Just to clarify, I presume this tells me that each individual stick is fine...but doesn't say how well they all work together - is that right? The reason I ask is because my original two sticks of 2gb Corsair RAM were 1.9V. I recently bought two more of the same RAM (for future upgrade to 8GB when I change to a 64-bit OS). But strangely these sticks are rated at 1.8V. So I've been trying to find out if this will lead to problems.

Thanks for all the help.
