I just installed 2 2gb sticks of ddr2 800mhz 5-5-5-18 ram but when i use cpuz it reads these for the speeds

Shouldn't they both read 400mhz for each one or is something messed up here?

i did take both sticks out and do one at a time and they both read the same no matter what, checked my bios and it is set to 800mhz and my friend who builds high performance gameing/security systems says that CPU-Z is probably not working for my computer.

I have a gateway gt5628,quad core 2.4ghz,g33classic board,8800gts 512 vcard,xtreme gamer sound card,500gb hard drive,650watt power supply.

Anyone know if cpuz is faulty for this particular build?

no this is correct, this is SPD timing table for different speeds. Max is 400.

so my ram is in fact running at 800mhz each then? And that 270 is just another speed it can run at?

the memory tab tells the current frequency.
