I noticed a little change in CPU-Z. It appears that CPU-Z now displays Core VID instead of the Core Voltage in certain situations. Anyone know when this feature was first implemented? or under what circumstances will the Core VID display over the Core Voltage?

Also, anyone know what methodology or algorithm was you used to ascertain the values for Core VID and Core Voltage.

Core VID is the processor's current VID value (obtained from the CPU).
You can for example see the VID range in the CPU specification page :
http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB8V

Core Voltage is obtained from the sensor chip, it should reflect the value set inthe BIOS.

Excellent. Franck, thanks for the info.

Is there a way for CPU-Z to alternate between the Core VID and Core Voltage information?

Sensor=OFF in the ini file ;)

Hello Franck!

No matter what i do cpuz will not show me my vcore voltage, it will only display CoreVID 1.350 V. Eferz kindly tried to help me on another forum but when nothing changed he referred me here. i have the latest cpuz of 1.47 and i have tried changing Sensor=OFF and Sensor=ON in the configuration file and then saving and closing with no luck. im not sure if all this information will help you but i will give it to ya anyways. thank you in advance for any help!

CPU= intel e6850
Motherboad= Asus P5N-E SLI Bios 1101
Using vista basic, im not sure what other information you need so please ask.

and a copy paste of the configuration file:

I'm having the same problems that Auld is having.

I have the same motherboard, but am running BIOS 901.

The last version of CPU-Z that has reported the real-time core voltage on my CPU correctly has been 1.44.1. And that is with SENSOR=ON. If I change it to SENSOR=OFF it reports the Core VID.

Versions 1.5 and later report the Core VID regardless of the SENSOR setting.

Are there any other suggestions? Version 1.44.1 works so I'll keep it, but it would nice to stay up with the latest revisions if I can get CPU-Z to report the real-time core voltage...

Thanks. ;)

Franck,
Here's a reg dump from both 1.44.1 and 1.7 of CPU-Z. Thanks!
